Dark Water

Verse 1

Tannin filled water

Paddle cuts quielty

Moss covered banks

Trees watch silently

Verse 2

Waters of infinite depth

Sight so comforting

Each bend an adventure

Absorbing the surroundings

Verse 3

Each stroke takes him

Away from life

Failures of the past

A tormented wife

Verse 4

Craft drifts on

Smile across his face

Realisation of freedom

Escaping life's pace

Verse 5

Trees reach down

Bend and sway

Birds yell support

Seemingly helping his way

Verse 6

He lays back

Staring at the sky

Weights round his waist

Driving his desire

Verse 7

Blue replaced with black

As his craft overturns

Eyes wide open

His body drifts down

Verse 8

Waters seem welcoming

As do other lost souls

Taking him in their arms

Welcoming him home

Verse 9

River returns to silence

Peaceful mirrored facade

Dark waters inviting

A cure for lives charred
