Spring
Verse 1
Lungs of the earth stand
Muttering in the forest
Many of their friends fallen
Chain saws poised on the rest
Verse 2
For 1000 winters they have slept
Barren from leaves at all
For 1000 springs the planet
Has waited for their call
Chorus
Ancient trees sleeping
The starting guns of spring
Questioning whether they bother
To bring on fresh beginnings
Verse 3
A burst of first colours
Normally heralds the thaw
The world awakes from winter
And being chilled to the core
Verse 4
Now the forest lays silent
Drab, colourless and bland
Even the suns rays
Cant stir life into the land
Chorus
Ancient trees sleeping
The starting guns of spring
Questioning whether they bother
To bring on fresh beginnings
Verse 5
See the trees are arguing
Do they even bother to awake
Mankind has ruined their world
With his constant mistakes
Verse 6
So the trees will do nothing
The vote has been taken
Spring wont arrive
Until mankind’s passing
Chorus
Ancient trees sleeping
The starting guns of spring
Questioning whether they bother
To bring on fresh beginnings
