Gun Pedlar

Verse 1

Oh the sun comes up through burning skies

The wind blows hard through deaths fires

The children cry and no one hears

Their faces blank and masked by tears

The warlords come their trucks to fill

The village blood they need to spill

Chorus

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who pulls the trigger

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who kills the children

Verse 2

The men and boys are stolen away

Guns in their hands they join the fray

The village girls are taken too

Someone else’s bidding they must do

The mothers weep but no one hears

Their mouths sewn by their own fears

Chorus

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who pulls the trigger

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who kills the children

Verse 3

Faceless people sit in safe surrounds

Getting fat from their bloody rounds

These sick worshipers of steel and lead

Line their pockets with the profits of death

Their fingers point anywhere but in

Their faces marked with a smug grin

Chorus

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who pulls the trigger

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who kills the children

Verse 4

Society is driven by the need to spend

The rich mans greed sees no end

But in purveying death one man’s gain

Leads directly to another ones pain

While governments sit in their places of power

The guns still flow from the ivory towers

Chorus

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who pulls the trigger

There’s no shame in what I do

Says the gun pedlar

Its not me who kills the children
