Mates

Verse 1

Rich childhood memories

Friends in the park

Playing cricket with mates

Getting home after dark

Wonderful innocent times

Of friendship and fun

No helicopter parents

Stopping our run

Verse 2

Rebellious teen years

Great friendships in tact

Sly smoke back of shed

Great fun in a pack

We drank underaged

Chased the odd girl

Argued about sport

Our lives were a whirl

Verse 3

We aged into our 20's

Started to settle down

Weddings started happening

Children were around

Old times lesser seen

We occasionally let lose

Cheeky grins reappear

Our friendships ensued

Verse 4

Time drifts us apart

As we hit middle age

We gather less frequently

As circumstances change

One thing never changes

As time passes by

The love of my mates

It never dies

Verse 5

So we might bore others

With our stories of past

I dont really care

As my love for them lasts
