Tracks in the Desert
Verse 1
There’s two sides of a coin
Many points of a compass
Varied views of a culture
And changing shades of a day
Complex visions of the future
Challenge the ways of our life
Who does dare to pursue
Which is wrong or right
Chorus 1
Two tracks in the red desert
One track we will be forced to take
Leading us to the blurred edge
Driven by decisions others make
Verse 2
There is an ongoing struggle
Between hope and despair
Between a culture that is ancient
And one that is viewed as fair
The decision makers will dictate
To others the life to chase
A decision based on prejudice
A decision based on haste
Chorus 2
Two tracks on the white beach
One track we will be forced to take
Parallel paths that we all seek
Driven by decisions others make
Verse 3
Our hope is with the children
As they wrestle smiles and frowns
It’s in them that we need to invest
In the communities and the towns
Whilst the law makers argue
The elders spirits wane
The spirit of change flows slowly
As we succumb to levels of disdain
Chorus 3
Two tracks in the city night
One track we are forced to take
Paths dappled with dark and light
Driven by decisions others make
Can you really blame either side for being down
